Originallyset in the eighties but later adapted for the nineties, the plays areoften performed together. They tell stories just about urban nightlife fromthe floors of view of nightclub bouncers and cocktail waitresses. Eachplay only involves foursome actors, and they play all the parts. I enjoyedstudying the plays as they use comedy, melodrama and music to portraysome very different characters. I in any case sight that sometimes, beneaththe comic aspects of the play, there were more serious messages aboutlife. battleground of Study 1 Character and ContextOur play was similar to Bouncers and Shakers as we worked ingroups of four too.Our characters were natural law officers, as we felt that the guard enchantjust as much of the things th at go on in nightclubs and bars asBouncers do. As well as being police officers, we also played all theparts of the smaller characters in the bars and clubs. We took this mind of playing multiple characters from the plays we read.My main character was a female police officer called Karen Smith. Shecomes across as a very strong, blunt and footsure character, from arough background, but she hides a secret. When Karen was younger herdad was real violent to her, her mum and her sisters, and it wasyears before he was finally caught and arrested. It was as a ten yearold, seeing her dad taken away, and quality so relieved, that shedecided to be a Police officer when she grew up, so she could helpother tribe.(See Role on the wall) I wanted to envision the hard and soft side ofKarens character, and so I seek really hard to show the reason forher harshness. At one point she speaks directly to the audience abouther past this is when her true character is revealed. The others inmy group played the following rolesMatt Tom Rivers a police officer who has only recently joined theforce. He is gay, and is worried that people will find out. He triesto seem extra tough.Sam Ron brownish - he has been a police officer many years and thinkshe knows everything.
